Aimee Alexander-Shea RSS
Aimee Alexander-Shea, Ph.D. completed her B.A. and M.Ed. in Elementary Education at the University of Florida. She earned her doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Social Science Education, Literacy, and Instructional Technology at the University of South Florida. 

Dr. Alexander-Shea has a varied background in both K-12 and Higher Education.  She began her career as a Second and Third Grade Elementary Teacher in Tampa, Florida. She later became a Reading Resource Specialist at a large, urban high school. She eventually transitioned in her role as an Associate Professor of Reading at Hillsborough Community College. In this position, she served as lead faculty for a multi-million dollar grant focused on increasing retention rates of first-generation college students and became a consultant for the high school-community college alignment effort at the Florida Department of Education.  Dr. Alexander-Shea later moved to Oregon where she was a Program Director and Associate Professor of Education for Eastern Oregon University's Gresham Program. Dr. Alexander-Shea decided to shift the focus of her career so that she could have more direct interactions with students and teachers. Therefore, she is currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Gresham High School in Gresham, Oregon. Dr. Alexander-Shea. 

Dr. Alexander-Shea has contributed extensively to the professional educational canon. She has presented at an array of national conferences around the country including AERA and NCSS. She also has a wide array of publications in reviewed journals and books. Dr. Alexander-Shea's research focus is increasing literacy across the content areas, equitable access to educational experiences, and effective strategies that support diverse learners.
